Hudson-Odoi at electric best but Blues' defenders flop in draw against ten
CHELSEA and Arsenal played out one of the games of the season that somehow ended in a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge.
Ex-Blue David Luiz handed his old team a much needed first-half boost as his clumsy last ditch challenge on Tammy Abraham saw the Brazilian sent-off and Jorginho score the resulting penalty.
And despite Gabriel Martinelli deservedly levelling for Arsenal, Cesar Azpilicueta stabbed home at the near post on 84 minutes for what the home side must have thought would be a winner.
But Hector Bellerin squeezed a left-footed strike from the edge of the box into the bottom far corner to break Chelsea hearts.
Here's what SunSport's William Pugh thought of the Blues' individual performances.
Kepa - 4/10
Had almost nothing to do before the break.
But distribution was poor and he put his team in trouble in both halves with poor passes out from the back.
Seemed slow to get across to Bellerin's late equaliser.
Cesar Azpilicueta - 7
Solid captain's performance.
Thought he had won it with his stabbed effort late on.
Antonio Rudiger - 6
Threatened in Arsenal's box regularly, which was useful given Chelsea's mountain of corners. Solid enough at the back.
Andreas Christensen - 4
Looked nervy on and off the ball in the first-half against a fairly tepid Arsenal attack.
Was all over the place after the break and looked miles away from being able to contain the excellent Martinelli.
His second-half plight was summed up when he was booked for hacking down Lacazette.
Emerson - 4
Booked for cynical foul on Pepe after 20 minutes.
Tried to get involved going forward but end product was continually poor.
Can't see him keeping his place off the back of that performance once Reece James returns.
Mateo Kovacic (subbed off, 64mins) - 6
Drafted in to replace Mount much to the relief of most Chelsea fans who couldn't understand why he had been dropped in the first-place.
Justified his recall with a robust showing at going forward and back.
Replaced by Barkley straight after Arsenal's equaliser.
N'Golo Kante (subbed off, 69 mins) - 5
Received a lot of stick in the week and while he didn't set the world on fire tonight, he was solid enough and should be back in the team next week.
Terribly unlucky with his Steven Gerrard-esque slip to let Martinelli score and let Arsenal back in the game first time around.
Replaced by Mount as Chelsea chased winner.
Jorginho - 6
Started well and in energetic fashion on and off the ball. Converted the penalty with no fuss at all.
Willian (subbed off, 78 mins) - 5
Blunt going forward. Easily the least threatening of Chelsea's front three. Replaced by Michy Batshuayi late on.
Callum Hudson Odoi - 8
Lightning fast start and gave Bukayo Saka at left-back a headache from the off. Involved in almost all of Chelsea's first-half attacks and nearly scored when his mis-hit cross duped Leno and skimmed off the bar.
Chelsea's best player just unlucky his work didn't come to more.
Tammy Abraham - 7
Lively first half. Should have done better with free header in first 15 minutes.
Did well to force Luiz into the tackle that saw the Brazilian sent-off and Jorginho convert the penalty to go one up.
Less of an impact after the break but industrious throughout.
